British air carrier Thomas Cook Airlines (MT/TCX) has terminated all operations on Sunday, September 22nd, after midnight. On Monday September 23rd, the first day after bankruptcy, there were 2 cancelled flights from Split and 1 from Dubrovnik. Until the end of the current summer timetable there will be 5 flights a week less for Split Airport and 2 flights a week less for Dubrovnik Airport.
The history of the company begun in 1988. when Caledonian Airways (KT/CKT) started with operations. In 1999 the merger of Caledonian Airways and Flying Colours Airlines (MT/FCL) made a new company with a new name JMC Airlines (MT/JMC). In 2007 there was another merger with MyTravel Airways (VZ/MYT) and the name was changed to current name.
Before the bankruptcy, Thomas Cook had a fleet of 7 Airbus A330-200s and 27 Airbus A321s. The company used to fly with Boeing 757-200s in the past (in the picture).
German subsidiary airline Condor (DE/CFG), Danish Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia (DK/VKG) and Spanish Thomas Cook Airlines Balerarics (H5/CTB) are continuing with operations, with no impact of the Thomas Cook Airlines bankruptcy.
