According to the latest data from the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), in the upcoming summer flight season, from late March to late October, Croatia will be connected to as many as 122 international cities. The highest number of flights is planned on routes to London, Frankfurt, Munich, and Vienna, with a total of around 485 airline routes expected in domestic and international traffic.
HTZ anticipates a 2% increase in passenger aircraft operations compared to last year’s summer flight schedule. This season, Croatia will have direct flights to 42 foreign countries, mostly in Europe but also to destinations in the USA, Canada, South Korea, Qatar, and the UAE.
“Air traffic is crucial for achieving outstanding results in Croatian tourism, especially in geographically distant markets. Every year, we work on improving air connectivity, which is particularly important for southern destinations that rely more on air transport,” said Kristjan Staničić, Director of HTZ.
To boost connectivity, HTZ has allocated over €3 million for strategic partnerships, including collaborations with airlines. “We are focusing on opening around 40 new routes this year and launching flights earlier to strengthen pre- and post-season traffic,” Staničić added.
The highest number of flights is planned for Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik airports, while the busiest international airports in terms of connections to Croatia will be Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, Amsterdam, and London Gatwick. The airlines with the most flights are Croatia Airlines, Ryanair, EasyJet, Eurowings, and Lufthansa. For example, Ryanair will connect Croatian airports with over 60 European cities this summer, while Croatia Airlines will operate flights to more than 30 destinations.
The increased air connectivity is expected to positively impact tourism results, with the first major influx of guests already anticipated during the upcoming Easter holidays.
