Lufthansa introduces A350 aircraft on Frankfurt long-haul routes

Lufthansa has deployed its modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft on key long-haul routes from Frankfurt Airport, enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency. This temporary measure addresses delays in new aircraft deliveries while supporting the airline’s fleet modernization.

Since the summer schedule began, four A350-900s have operated from Frankfurt, with two more joining in May and July. The aircraft currently fly to Seoul and Shanghai, with Denver services starting May 1 and Seattle on July 1.

Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, stated: “The temporary A350 deployment from Frankfurt bridges the gap caused by delivery delays. These advanced aircraft improve the travel experience until our new long-haul planes arrive.” The airline expects 61 new aircraft by 2027, averaging one every two weeks.

The A350-900 consumes only 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger per 100 km, reducing CO₂ emissions by 30% compared to older models while operating more quietly. Lufthansa currently operates 30 A350-900s from Munich, with 14 more arriving by 2029. Munich remains the exclusive base for A350s with the new Allegris cabin.
