Wizz Air Becomes first operator of Pratt & Whitney-powered A321XLR

Wizz Air has taken delivery of the first of its 47 ordered A321XLR aircraft, becoming the first airline in the world to operate this model equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, as well as the first European low-cost carrier to introduce it into its fleet.

The new A321XLR aircraft features 239 seats in a single-class configuration. It is fitted with the modern Airspace cabin, which includes an innovative lighting system and multiple settings to create a comfortable environment for passengers during different phases of the flight, including boarding, meals, relaxation, and rest. By adding the A321XLR to its fleet, Wizz Air is expanding its capacity to connect Europe and the Middle East.

Wizz Air operates an all-Airbus fleet, with over 230 A320 Family aircraft currently in service and an additional 295 awaiting delivery.

The A321XLR represents the next evolutionary step in the A320neo Family, designed to meet market demands for greater range and payload while offering airlines added flexibility and value. This model will have an exceptional range of up to 4,700 nautical miles, with 30% lower fuel burn per seat compared to previous-generation competitor aircraft, as well as reduced nitrogen oxide emissions and noise. Airbus has already secured over 500 orders for this aircraft.

Like all Airbus aircraft, the A321XLR can already operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to make all its aircraft 100% SAF-compatible by 2030.
