Pleso Prijevoz, a bus company that connects Croatian airports with city centers, is facing significant financial difficulties, according to the portal poslovni.hr
The company’s former president of the board has been dismissed, and the new board is conducting a thorough audit of its operations. Their primary goal is to ensure employee salaries are paid and that Pleso Prijevoz can maintain its essential service of linking airports with cities.
These developments follow the recent discovery of serious financial issues within the company. Losses incurred during the tenure of the former president, Madunić, are suspected to be linked to potential criminal activities, poslovni.hr reports.
Currently, the company’s account is blocked. Co-owners are working to secure the funds necessary to unblock it and to pay overdue October salaries, thereby safeguarding workers’ rights and ensuring uninterrupted operations. Unofficial sources indicate that taxes and wage contributions have gone unpaid for months, leading to the account’s blockage by the Tax Administration.
Pleso Prijevoz provides vital connections: Franjo Tuđman Airport to Zagreb Bus Station, Split Sv. Jeronim Airport to Split Bus Station, Rijeka to Zagreb Airport, Zadar Airport to Novalja and Pag, and Osijek Airport to Osijek Bus Station. If the company’s operations were to cease, only Zagreb Airport would have an alternative public transport option (ZET), while other locations would face logistical and organizational challenges.
The company is co-owned by Čazmatrans d.o.o. and Zagreb Airport d.o.o., which oversees the work of the airport’s concessionaire. Zagreb Airport d.o.o. managed the airport’s operations from its opening on April 20, 1962, until 2013.
In 2023, Pleso Prijevoz generated €3,689,854 in operating income, achieving a profit of €201,687, and employed an average of 79 workers throughout the year.

In case of difficulties in Pleso prijevoz operations, Croatia Airlines can also expect problems. Namely, Pleso prijevoz provides CTN with the service of transporting crews to airports, as well as transfers in certain Croatian airports. As AvioRadar has learned, Croatia Airlines does not have enough of its own parking spaces at Franjo Tuđman airport, and since most of the B2B parking spaces at the airport parking lot are leased, greater logistical difficulties can be expected.

The Osijek Airport Public Relations Department responded to the article “Possible problems for Croatian airports: Pleso Prijevoz faces pre-bankruptcy” with a comment that we are transmitting in full: “We have noticed an inaccuracy in your article regarding Pleso Prijevoz and their connection with Osijek Airport. Namely, Pleso Prijevoz does not currently connect Osijek Airport with the bus station in Osijek. Cooperation existed in the past, but only in the period from 09.07.2023 to 18.09.2023 when they performed passenger transfers between these two destinations.”
