LATAM orders up to 74 Embraer E195-E2s

LATAM Airlines Group has announced a new strategic order aimed at significantly boosting connectivity across South America. The carrier signed an agreement with Embraer to acquire up to 74 E195-E2 narrowbody aircraft, including 24 firm orders and purchase rights for an additional 50 units. The first deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2026, with the aircraft initially joining the fleet of LATAM Airlines Brazil before potentially being allocated to other affiliates within the group.

The firm order is valued at approximately USD 2.1 billion at list prices. According to the announcement, this investment is fully aligned with the group’s current financial policy and will not require any adjustments.

LATAM Airlines Group CEO Roberto Alvo emphasized that the decision was driven by the outstanding economics and flexibility of the Embraer E195-E2. “Over the past four years, we have focused on expanding our domestic and regional network, building the most extensive travel system within South America. The new aircraft will allow us to continue profitable growth by opening new destinations, giving passengers more options, and further connecting communities—contributing to both economic and social development,” said Alvo.

Embraer President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto added that the strategic partnership confirms LATAM’s commitment to seeking the most efficient solution for its next phase of growth. “The E195-E2 is a perfect fit for their fleet as it enables connectivity to more destinations with optimal capacity and outstanding passenger comfort,” Gomes Neto stated.

The Embraer E195-E2 stands out for its advanced technology, including Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, improved aerodynamics, and the latest fly-by-wire system. Compared to the previous generation, it consumes up to 30 percent less fuel per seat, while its 2-2 cabin layout provides greater comfort for passengers.

LATAM Group’s fleet currently comprises 362 aircraft: 283 Airbus narrowbodies, 56 Boeing widebodies, 20 Boeing freighters, and three Airbus widebodies on short-term lease. Soon, the next-generation Brazilian E-Jets will also join its ranks. Since 2021, LATAM has expanded its passenger network from 129 to 160 destinations—a 24 percent increase that highlights its strong investment in regional growth.
