Jet2 bids farewell to Boeing 757

On January 5, British airline Jet2 operated its last Boeing 757 flight from Geneva to Manchester, marking the end of the 42-year history of the Boeing 757 for British carriers.

The last flight, operated by a 37-year-old Boeing 757-200 (reg. G-LSAI), departed Manchester at 10:05, landing in the Swiss city at 12:40 local time. The return flight arrived back in Manchester at 15:24.

Jet2 began the process of retiring the Boeing 757 in early 2024, while in November of the same year, it received its first Airbus A321neo. Jet2 has operated a total of 21 757s, according to airfleets.net.

Although extremely popular at the time, only around 200 Boeing 757s are in service today, most of which are operated by United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Icelandair. All of the aforementioned carriers have announced the gradual retirement of aircraft of this type, most likely during 2025.
