Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković signed an Agreement on Participation in Financing the Program for Improving Air Transport Connectivity of the City of Mostar with the Mayor of the City of Mostar Mario Kordić on Friday, 22 November in Mostar (BiH). The agreement was concluded based on the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which allocates funds to the City of Mostar to support existing and develop new air transport connectivity programs, with the aim of improving air transport connectivity of the City of Mostar with all regions of the Republic of Croatia, as well as with key transport hubs of the European Union.
With the signed agreement, the Government of the Republic of Croatia, i.e. the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, allocates 900 thousand euros to the City of Mostar for improving air connectivity with the Republic of Croatia.
“Following the appointment of the new management and discussions regarding Mostar Airport, we have achieved nearly a record number of passengers in the city of Mostar this year,” said Mayor Kordić. He credited the success to the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which supported the entire project. Mayor Kordić highlighted that Croatia Airlines had commenced operations in Mostar, providing the critical catalyst needed to reposition Mostar Airport within the network of international airports. This development, he explained, paved the way for discussions, planning, and negotiations with other operators, resulting in 14 regular flight routes. “During the discussions leading up to this agreement, we focused on introducing additional routes to Zagreb. Now, with great satisfaction and thanks to Minister Oleg, we will work on this project,” said Kordić. He added that the city of Mostar is poised to establish daily connections with Zagreb Airport, a vital hub and gateway to the world for Mostar.
