ANA Group expands fleet with order for 77 aircraft

Tokyo-based airline group ANA Holdings announced its decision to order 77 new aircraft after a board meeting. The decision was made to foster sustainable growth in anticipation of future growth in passenger demand. The group’s fleet is planned to have around 320 aircraft by 2030, with approximately 120 Boeing 787 series aircraft. This will increase the proportion of fuel-efficient aircraft to around 90%, contributing to environmental protection measures.

ANA will order 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft in anticipation of strong demand for flights across Asia and North America and the expansion of Narita Airport. This will enable the expansion of international routes, a planned area of future growth for the ANA group.

For domestic routes, 20 100-seat Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will be ordered for the first time (15 orders with 5 options). The introduction of the Embraer E190-E2 will reduce fuel consumption, noise emissions and operating costs on domestic routes. The introduction of the aircraft type into the fleet is expected by 2028.

In addition to the Embraer, 14 Airbus A321neo aircraft and 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft (8 orders and 4 options) will be ordered for domestic routes.

To strengthen the fleet of ANA’s low-cost carrier, Peach, 10 Airbus A321neo aircraft and 3 Airbus A321XLR aircraft have been ordered.

In addition to the above orders, the ANA Group has finalized previously announced options for 5 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 10 737-8 aircraft.

Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings Group, commented on this occasion: “This order will be a catalyst for improving the profitability of domestic flights and expanding international flights, which is an area of future growth for our airline business. We will take full advantage of this opportunity to become a leading airline in the industry with sustainable growth.
