Airbus A350-1000 strengthens its presence in Asia

At the end of 2025, the Airbus A350-1000, the largest and most advanced variant of the A350 family, once again confirms its key role in the modernisation and expansion of the fleets of leading Asian airlines. Two important announcements from Toulouse point to growing demand for this efficient and comfortable widebody aircraft, which is increasingly positioning itself as a cornerstone of long-haul operations in the region and beyond.

Taiwan’s China Airlines has ordered five additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, increasing its total order for this type to 15 units. This decision represents a continuation of the airline’s long-standing cooperation with Airbus and reflects its ambition to further modernise its fleet and strengthen its position on long-haul markets worldwide. According to Airbus, the A350-1000 will be operated alongside the existing A350-900 fleet, offering greater efficiency, range and passenger comfort.

At the same time, Philippine Airlines has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, becoming the tenth airline globally and the first in Southeast Asia to introduce this model into operational service. The widebody aircraft arrived at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport on 20 December, marking the start of a major fleet transformation aimed at strengthening long-haul routes, particularly to the United States and other intercontinental destinations. Philippine Airlines has ordered a total of nine A350-1000 aircraft, with the new flagship expected to deliver a high standard of comfort across three travel classes.

Taken together, these two announcements illustrate the growing trend among Asian carriers towards modern long-range widebody aircraft. As the latest member of Airbus’s A350 family, the A350-1000 offers significant advantages in terms of aerodynamic efficiency, fuel economy, reduced emissions and passenger comfort – factors that are becoming increasingly decisive for competitiveness in the long-haul aviation market.

While China Airlines is expanding its order book to support network growth and rising demand, Philippine Airlines is entering a new chapter in its history with the A350-1000 as its new flagship aircraft. This combination of new orders and first deliveries clearly demonstrates how airlines in Asia are increasingly investing in advanced aircraft capable of meeting the demands of modern international air travel.
