Air Canada has announced that its first Airbus A321XLR will inaugurate a brand-new route between Montreal and Palma de Mallorca, beginning in June 2026. With this launch, the Canadian carrier will become the first from the country to connect the popular Spanish island with the North American market. Tickets are already available through Air Canada’s website and travel agents.
The first aircraft from the order of 30 A321XLRs is set to join the fleet in the first quarter of 2026, with Palma de Mallorca as the first in a series of new destinations enabled by this aircraft type. The XLR is a narrow-body with exceptional range, designed precisely for medium-haul transatlantic flights. “The long-awaited arrival of the revolutionary Airbus A321XLR marks the next phase of Air Canada’s international expansion. With this aircraft, we unlock completely new global opportunities,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
The A321XLR will be the first narrow-body in Air Canada’s fleet equipped with fully lie-flat seats in business class, offering passengers a wide-body travel experience on a single-aisle jet. The aircraft will have a capacity of 182 passengers – 14 in Signature Class and 168 in economy class. It will also introduce a refreshed interior design standard, which will gradually be applied across the airline’s future deliveries.
In addition to Mallorca, Air Canada will deploy the A321XLR on existing routes: year-round service between Montreal and Toulouse, and seasonal flights to Edinburgh, which will return in 2026 with an enhanced product. As more aircraft arrive, the carrier plans to expand operations further from Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.
Flights to Palma de Mallorca will be operated four times per week. Departures from Montreal (AC 924) are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 18:45, arriving in Mallorca at 08:25 the next day. The return flight (AC 925) will depart Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 12:15, landing in Montreal at 15:10. The route will run from June 17 to October 24, 2026.
Air Canada expects to receive up to 10 A321XLRs in its first year of deliveries, marking the start of a new era of flexible transatlantic connectivity and enhanced passenger experience.
