After 22 years of service to the national airline, the Airbus A320 registration number 9A-CTJ is leaving the fleet. “Juliet” made her last passenger flight on Monday, November 15 on a rotation from Frankfurt.

The Airbus A320 (9A-CTJ) made its first flight on April 27, 1999 and joined Croatia Airlines fleet on June 17 of the same year. The aircraft was named Dubrovnik, whose name it bore throughout its service in the national airline. The aircraft was configured with 174 economy class seats after the installation of the new Recaro seats and was originally delivered in a 162-seat configuration. The A320-214 subtype carried the serial number 1009 and took off on a test flight 22 years ago carrying the F-WWDN registration. “Juliet” was delivered to Croatia Airlines in Zagreb directly from the Airbus factory in Toulouse.
9A-CTJ carried millions of passengers in its service, and among them, the Holy Father Benedict XVI, who traveled on this plane during his pastoral visit to Croatia in 2011, stands out.
Although this is not the first Airbus to leave the national airline’s fleet (preceded by 9A-CTM and 9A-CTF), the 9A-CTJ stands out because it is the first Airbus that is leaving the fleet and was specially ordered and delivered to Croatia Airlines. “Juliet” is embarking on its last trip in the colors of Croatia Airlines in the next few days, on a flight that returns the aircraft to its owner, ie the leasing company. At the time of leaving the home base, Franjo Tuđman Airport in Zagreb, “Juliet” will be 22.6 years old.
