The South Korean airline t’way arrived in Zagreb for the first time today, thus launching its first flight to Europe. There were 337 passengers on flight TW505, while the capacity of the aircraft is 347 seats, so we can say that was almost a completely full flight. According to the flight schedule, the flight from Seoul to Zagreb takes 15 hours and 50 minutes, and the reason for such a long journey is due to the closed Russian airspace, which is why this flight needs to take detours. The Airbus A330-30 does not have the necessary fuel capacity to make the whole flight so a 1 hour and 40 minutes stop must be made in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to refuel. The flight from Seoul to Bishkek takes 7 hours and 25 minutes and another 6 hours and 45 minutes from Bishkek to Zagreb. The return flight to Seoul takes “only” 10 hours, and is much faster since there are no refueling stops along the way.
In Zagreb, the first flight from Seoul was welcomed by representatives of the Korean Embassy, representatives of the Croatian Tourist Board, and representatives of Zagreb International Airport.
The plane landed in Zagreb at around 20:30, with a slight delay. The aircraft was greeted by water cannons.
Passengers who arrived on the flight from Seoul received traditional souvenirs.
We hope that this arrival will encourage other airlines from that part of the world to connect Zagreb with Asian destinations.
