The Croatian Civil Aviation Agency has revoked Aeroklub Vrsar’s approval to operate Vrsar/Crljenka Aerodrome after determining that the aeroclub no longer holds proof of the right to use the land on which the runway and associated aerodrome facilities are located.

According to a statement issued by the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency, the decision to revoke the approval was adopted on June 25, 2026. The move followed a decision by the Municipality of Vrsar-Orsera dated June 8, which revoked an earlier decision from December 2023 that had granted Aeroklub Vrsar the right to use land parcels owned by the municipality.

The Agency explained that this meant one of the conditions required for the validity of the aerodrome operating approval, as prescribed by the Regulation on the Issuance of Aerodrome Certificates and Aerodrome Operating Approvals, was no longer met. Aeroklub Vrsar could no longer provide proof of ownership or proof of the right to use the area serving as the aerodrome.

As a result, the Agency said it was obliged, pursuant to Article 6 of the Regulation, to issue a decision revoking the aerodrome operating approval.

Active NOTAM B1026/26 states that the aerodrome has been closed since August 11, 2026 at 11:00 UTC for all traffic.

The statement also addressed claims that the Agency’s decision had created a situation in which twelve aircraft currently located at the aerodrome were unable to take off. The Agency described such claims as false and said that, earlier this week, the responsible person at Aeroklub Vrsar had been provided with information on the procedure allowing aircraft to depart even when the aerodrome is closed.

This involves obtaining approval for off-aerodrome operations, with the application to be submitted by the operator of each individual aircraft. The standard deadline for submitting the application together with the complete documentation is seven working days.

The Croatian Civil Aviation Agency added that its Flight Approvals Department would take the current situation in Vrsar into account and would seek to process each application submitted by an aircraft operator as quickly as possible.
