Croatia Airlines is set to bring its first Airbus A220-100, registered 9A-CAO, to Zagreb on a direct flight from Montreal. This is the seventh Airbus A220 delivered to the national carrier as part of a total order for 15 aircraft, of which 13 will be the larger A220-300 variant and two the shorter A220-100. The first two aircraft were delivered last year, while with this latest arrival, five have already been delivered in 2025.
According to Flightradar24, the flight from Montreal (YMX) to Zagreb (ZAG) is scheduled for September 29, departing at 17:30 local time and arriving in Croatia the following morning (September 30) at 08:32 Central European Time. This delivery flight is particularly significant as it marks the first time a transatlantic crossing is operated nonstop, without the technical stop in Copenhagen that had been the standard for previous deliveries. Thanks to the lower weight of the A220-100 compared to the larger -300, but with the same fuel capacity, the journey will be flown nonstop in just over ten hours.
With the introduction of 9A-CAO, Croatia Airlines continues the largest fleet renewal in its history. By 2027, all older Airbus and DHC 8-400 aircraft will be replaced with the new generation A220.
