Croatia Airlines bids farewell to the Airbus A320: Final flight scheduled

Croatia Airlines has officially begun the countdown to the end of the Airbus A320 era in its fleet. According to the latest flight schedule published by the Aeroroutes portal, the final commercial flight of this aircraft is scheduled for January 31, 2026.

In the updated winter 2025/2026 flight schedule, the national carrier has outlined the gradual phase-out of the A320 model from regular service. The aircraft will remain in operation the longest on the Zagreb – Amsterdam route, where daily flights are planned up until the very end of January 2026. Other routes, such as those from Split to Copenhagen and London Heathrow, as well as from Zagreb to Frankfurt, London, Paris, and domestic destinations, will be discontinued earlier — mostly by mid-November or the end of December 2025.

The Airbus A320 has been a cornerstone of the Croatia Airlines fleet since the mid-1990s. Over the years, a total of five A320s have served in the fleet, bearing the registrations 9A-CTF, 9A-CTM, 9A-CTJ, 9A-CTK, and 9A-CTO.

The first A320, 9A-CTF, was delivered to Croatia Airlines in 1997 and played a key role in modernizing the fleet following the Homeland War. The arrival of subsequent aircraft enabled the development of an international route network, particularly to major European hubs such as Frankfurt, London, and Paris.

The decision to retire the Airbus A320 is part of a broader fleet modernization strategy, through which Croatia Airlines is gradually transitioning to the new generation of narrow-body aircraft – the Airbus A220. The new model, with greater efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and lower noise levels, is expected to further improve service and reduce the airline’s operating costs.

While expected, the retirement of the A320 marks an emotional moment for the company and its passengers. These aircraft have transported millions of travelers and symbolized stability and expansion for Croatia Airlines in the post-war period.

Unless there are changes to the flight schedule, the final regular A320 flight will take place on January 31, 2026, on the Split – Zagreb route, officially ending nearly 30 years of this model’s presence in Croatian aviation.

Aeroroutes, the portal that first reported this update, notes that further changes to the schedule are possible. Nonetheless, all signs indicate that Croatia Airlines is slowly but surely bidding farewell to a legend of its fleet.
