U.S. carrier Alaska Airlines has unveiled its all-new International Business Class, marking its entry into the long-haul premium travel segment and reinforcing its ambition to evolve into a global airline with a strong West Coast focus. The new product will be introduced this spring on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, alongside the launch of flights to Europe and Asia.
The new cabin represents a significant upgrade compared to the airline’s previous offering, with a strong emphasis on privacy and comfort. Passengers will have access to fully lie-flat seats within private suites featuring doors, direct aisle access, and seating that converts into a true bed. The cabin is equipped with 18-inch high-definition screens, offering more than 1,500 entertainment options, along with noise-reducing headsets, power outlets, and wireless charging capabilities.
A particular focus has been placed on the dining experience, which includes a multi-course menu inspired by the U.S. West Coast and the airline’s global destinations. Meals can be pre-selected via the airline’s mobile app and include dishes developed in collaboration with award-winning chef Brady Ishiwata Williams. Following the main course, passengers can enjoy a dessert service featuring customizable options, including signature ice cream creations.
The overall experience is further enhanced by premium bedding developed in collaboration with Filson, including a mattress pad, pillows, and an oversized duvet. Amenity kits include skincare products from Salt & Stone, along with travel essentials and accessories created in partnership with PATH Water.
As part of the premium offering, passengers will have access to Alaska Airlines’ lounge network, as well as partner lounges within the oneworld Alliance. Top-tier status holders will also benefit from access to First Class lounges across the network, regardless of their class of travel.
Further enhancements are planned with the installation of Starlink connectivity on Dreamliner aircraft, enabling high-speed internet access throughout the flight. The service will be available free of charge for certain passengers, depending on partnership benefits.
The introduction of the new Business Class comes as Alaska Airlines marks five years of membership in the oneworld alliance, through which it now connects passengers to more than 900 destinations worldwide. This network plays a key role in supporting the airline’s international expansion, offering seamless connections and single-ticket itineraries.
The first routes to feature the new cabin will include flights from Seattle to Rome starting April 28, followed by London on May 21 and Reykjavik on May 28, while the Asian network will expand with services to Seoul and Tokyo. With this move, Alaska Airlines enters direct competition with established global carriers in the long-haul premium travel segment.
