Air Astana orders 25 Airbus aircraft

The Air Astana Group has signed a firm order for 25 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo Family, marking the largest direct order in the company’s history. The agreement was concluded symbolically on the 20th anniversary of Air Astana’s first A320 entering service in 2006, underscoring two decades of cooperation with the European manufacturer.

The new order includes five A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft. Part of the fleet will also be allocated to the group’s low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan, as part of a broader fleet expansion and renewal strategy. The group currently operates 59 aircraft from the A320 Family and continues to strengthen its position in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

Air Astana President and CEO Peter Foster said the order reflects a long-term commitment to operational efficiency and service excellence. He highlighted the A321LR in its premium configuration, noting that it combines true long-range capability with what he described as a leading narrowbody long-haul passenger experience. According to Foster, the new-generation aircraft will further support sustainable growth and long-term profitability.

Airbus welcomed the agreement, stating that it further validates the economic performance and market appeal of the A320neo Family. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said the deal strengthens a decades-long partnership and supports Air Astana’s vision of connecting Kazakhstan more closely to global markets.
