In addition to many positive news from Rijeka Airport recently, one more great news for upcoming summer season just arrived. After already published return of Ryanair, Condor Airlines and Air Serbia, after 15 years one of key airlines responsible for record traffic in 2006 and 2007, EasyJet, announced its return to Rijeka Airport in May 2022! So this year, Rijeka Airport is expecting not only return of pre-COVID traffic, but also new passenger traffic record.
Thanks to exceptional effort and commitment of Rijeka Airport Management, after many years of negotiations between Rijeka Airport and EasyJet, finally mutual consensus has been made. Ministry of the sea, transport and infrasturcture, Primorsko-goranska County, City of Rijeka, Opatija, Krk, Crikvenica, Omisalj, representatives of hotels Jadran Crikvenica and Hilton Rijeka, and the Tourist Board sector with its participants assured support for promotional activities needed for best positioning Kvarner region on British market, where it’s still pretty unknown. So with mentioned marketing activities, Kvarner region will further encourage the development and increase of number of arrivals from British market, which currently accounts for less than 1% of total overnights in Kvarner.
Easyjet plans for start operating direct route to London Gatwick in period from May 3, 2022 until October 29, 2022, two times a week on Tuesday and Saturday. Tickets are still not on sale, but are expected to on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Given the consensus between Rijeka Airport, the Tourist Board and EasyJet for the long term, we believe that this is just the beginning of a very successful collaboration, and that we can expect many more new routes in the coming period from this prosperous old-new partner!
