Međunarodna zračna luka Zagreb d.d. has published a vacancy for an airside safety controller, a position that includes a range of duties directly related to the safe operation of air traffic and everyday activities at Zagreb Airport. The workplace is located in Velika Gorica, and applications are open until 15 October 2026.
The airside safety controller is responsible for monitoring the condition of operational surfaces, signs, markings, equipment and other infrastructure relevant to air traffic safety. The role also includes safety oversight during works carried out on the airside, assessment of the condition of operational surfaces, as well as the immediate reporting of critical irregularities and taking measures within the employee’s authority to prevent incidents or accidents.
One of the more visible parts of the job is guiding aircraft with a “Follow Me” vehicle and assisting with aircraft parking in accordance with applicable procedures, current aeronautical information and operational instructions. The controller also communicates with air traffic controllers in the airport control tower and carries out instructions related to air traffic safety. The role additionally includes driving vehicles with special status, such as protected State Protocol convoys, as well as recording and removing FOD from manoeuvring areas.
The job is performed according to an irregular working schedule, depending on operational requirements. Candidates are required to have at least secondary education, a category B driving licence, English language proficiency at B2 level and between one and three years of work experience. The employer also highlights communication skills and a strong inclination toward teamwork. Applicants are required to submit a CV together with a school certificate or diploma.
The position offers a gross salary starting from EUR 1,900, with a fixed-term contract for one year and a six-month probation period. There is also the possibility of permanent employment after the fixed-term contract expires.
