Türkiye orders 20 Eurofighters

Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH has confirmed that the Republic of Türkiye will join the Eurofighter program with an order for 20 Typhoon multi-role fighter aircraft. With this acquisition, Türkiye becomes the tenth nation to operate the European jet and the newest partner in a community that includes four core and five partner nations.

“We are delighted to welcome the Republic of Türkiye as the newest member of the Eurofighter program and look forward to supporting the Turkish Air Force as it takes delivery of our world-class weapon system,” said Jorge Tamarit-Degenhardt, Chief Executive Officer of Eurofighter.

He added that “as a proud member of the Eurofighter family, Türkiye will work alongside the other nations to help protect Europe’s skies and strengthen the continent’s security, playing a key role on the Black Sea flank.”

This decision further consolidates the Typhoon’s position as the backbone of Europe’s air defense, following recent additional orders from three of the program’s four core nations — Germany, Spain, and Italy — for 20, 25, and up to 24 aircraft, respectively.

The Eurofighter program currently supports more than 100,000 skilled jobs across over 400 companies throughout Europe, representing the continent’s largest defense industrial project and a long-term contribution to European security and technological independence.
