Korean Air orders seven Airbus A350F

Korean Air has become the latest customer for the Airbus A350F, the world’s only all-new large widebody freighter. The South Korean carrier has converted seven of its previously ordered A350-1000 passenger aircraft into the freighter version, further strengthening its position among the world’s largest cargo operators.

“Korean Air is one of the world’s largest cargo carriers. The decision to introduce the A350F into its fleet is a strong endorsement of the aircraft’s outstanding capabilities,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales, Commercial Aircraft at Airbus. “The A350F will provide Korean Air with the most efficient solution in the large freighter segment.”

The A350F features the largest main deck cargo door in the industry, with a fuselage optimized for standard pallets and containers. More than 70% of its structure is made from advanced composite materials, resulting in a 46-tonne lower take-off weight compared to competing models. It is also the only freighter aircraft that will fully comply with ICAO’s new CO₂ emissions standards coming into effect in 2027.

Currently under development, the A350F will be capable of carrying up to 111 tonnes of payload over a range of 8,700 kilometres (4,700 nautical miles). Powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the aircraft will deliver up to 40% lower fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to previous-generation freighters with similar payload and range capabilities.

As of the end of September 2025, Airbus had received a total of 1,445 orders for the A350 Family from 63 customers worldwide, including 65 for the all-new A350F from ten cargo operators and one lessor.

Korean Air has now ordered a total of 33 A350 aircraft – 20 A350-1000s, seven A350Fs, and six A350-900s, the first two of which have already been delivered. In addition, the airline holds outstanding orders for 39 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, continuing its fleet modernization and global expansion strategy.
