The Ministry of Defense announces increased Rafale flight activities

Throughout the upcoming week, Croatian Rafale multipurpose fighter jets will engage in both day and night flying exercises over the territory of the Republic of Croatia. This schedule is part of ongoing pilot training, and a similar pace of activities is anticipated in the near future.

These day and night exercises are critical for pilot proficiency. In preparation for night flights, the pilots of the 191st Fighter Squadron of the Croatian Air Force have a message for the citizens of Croatia:

“Dear citizens of Croatia, flying under night conditions is highly complex and demanding. However, with thorough preparation, training, and consistent day flying, we enhance our readiness to operate at any hour, day or night. Our primary mission is to ensure your peace and safety. When you hear the roar of our engines, know that the Knights are sending you a message of safety and protection!”

The flight schedule is as follows: on Monday, September 9, and Tuesday, September 10, 2024, flights will occur between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and again from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. During these times, increased noise levels and potential sonic booms are expected, with special attention to safety measures over the regions of Zagreb and Zagreb County, Sisak-Moslavina County, Slavonia, Lika, Zadar, Istria, and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties. Additionally, daily flight activities are planned throughout the week from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The Ministry of Defense advises that regular flight operations of the 191st Fighter Squadron will continue throughout September, which may result in elevated noise levels and occasional sonic booms across Croatia. They ask for the public’s understanding and patience during these necessary exercises.

The Ministry also emphasizes that all activities are conducted within designated flight zones and in full compliance with the regulations governing airspace use in the Republic of Croatia.
