Qatar Airways the best again: Skytrax Awards for 2025 announced

At the prestigious Skytrax Awards ceremony held on June 17, 2025, as part of the Paris Air Show in the historic Hall of Eight Columns at Le Bourget Airport, Qatar Airways once again claimed the title of World’s Best Airline. In addition to the top award, the airline also received accolades for Best Business Class, Best Business Class Lounge (Al Mourjan Garden Lounge), and Best Airline in the Middle East. Qatar Airways CEO, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer emphasized that this recognition reflects the dedication of the airline’s staff and the trust of its passengers, highlighting the company’s commitment to continually pushing the boundaries in the industry.

Singapore Airlines came in second place, winning awards for Best Cabin Crew, Best First Class, and Best Airline in Asia. Cathay Pacific secured third place globally and was also named the airline with the Best in-flight entertainment. Emirates and ANA All Nippon Airways took fourth and fifth place, respectively, with ANA also triumphing in the categories of Best Airport Services and Best Airline Staff in Asia.

Among the notable winners was Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines, which earned the award for World’s Most Improved Airline in 2025 and, for the first time, was granted 5-Star Airline status. Their success, just five years after their founding, was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.

In the low-cost carrier segment, AirAsia was named World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the sixteenth consecutive year. Scoot won the title of Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline, while Eurowings, Allegiant Air, and JetSMART were recognized as the leading low-cost carriers in Europe, North America, and South America, respectively.

Lufthansa was awarded the title of Most Family-Friendly Airline, thanks to its special services for passengers traveling with children. Canada’s Air Transat was named Best Leisure Airline for the third year in a row. In Africa, Ethiopian Airlines dominated, with FlySafair recognized as the continent’s best low-cost carrier.

Regionally, Bangkok Airways was named World’s Best Regional Airline, IndiGo was the top airline in India and South Asia, and Qantas led in Australia and the Pacific. Virgin Australia and Delta were awarded for having the Best Airline Staff in their respective regions. Air Canada took home the award for Best Airline in North America.

Air France stood out by winning awards for Best Airline in Western Europe, Best First Class Seat Comfort, and Best Lounge Dining. Hainan Airlines was once again recognized as the Best Airline in China and also took home awards for Best Business Class Seat Comfort and Best Airline Staff.

On the alliance level, Star Alliance was once again named World’s Best Airline Alliance, with its lounge at Paris CDG Airport winning the award for Best Alliance Lounge.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of Aviation,” are based on the world’s largest passenger satisfaction survey, conducted between September 2024 and May 2025.
