Pula Airport has published a vacancy for the position of Head of the Development Sector, with applications open until 28 August 2026. The role includes planning the airport’s future development, managing infrastructure projects and modernising existing capacities.

Applicants are required to hold a degree from a Faculty of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, have higher education qualifications, active knowledge of English, a category B driving licence and at least five years of work experience. Candidates must also provide proof that no criminal or misdemeanour proceedings are being conducted against them.

The Head of the Development Sector is expected to play an important role in planning the future growth of Pula Airport. Responsibilities include developing long-term modernisation plans, monitoring industry trends, identifying infrastructure improvement needs and implementing new technologies. The job description also includes preparing strategies to expand capacity, increase efficiency and optimise airport operations.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing projects involving the construction of new facilities and the modernisation of existing ones, including coordination with engineers, architects, suppliers and contractors. A significant part of the role concerns monitoring costs and development budgets, as well as projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, improving the sustainable use of resources and lowering the airport’s overall environmental footprint.

The position also includes participation in public and simplified procurement procedures and cooperation with relevant authorities, including the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency, the competent ministry and the Ministry of the Interior. The sector head will also participate in preparing materials for the Supervisory Board and General Assembly and monitor regulations relating to air transport and environmental protection.

The position comes with a monthly gross salary of €3,200, increased by 0.5 percent for each year of service. Pula Airport states that objective and gender-neutral criteria are applied when determining salaries, in line with European Union principles on pay transparency and equal pay for equal work or work of equal value.

Applications are accepted exclusively by post until 28 August, together with the required documentation, including a CV, proof of qualifications, proof of citizenship, a signed statement confirming knowledge of English, relevant court certificates, an electronic employment record and a copy of the driving licence. Pula Airport may conduct interviews and additional testing with candidates, while the final decision will be made by the Management Board based on the opinion of the committee responsible for carrying out the recruitment procedure.

The vacancy notice also contains an inconsistency regarding the duration of employment. At the beginning of the document, the position is described as permanent employment, while near the end it states that the employment relationship will be established for a fixed term with a six-month probationary period.
