New low-cost connection between Europe and Southeast Asia

Low-cost carrier Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has announced the opening of an interesting new route that will connect Central Europe with Southeast Asia. From June 3, 2025, they will introduce direct flights from Vienna to Singapore, with a frequency of three flights per week. Also, from April 14, 2025, they will introduce a flight between Singapore and the Philippine city of Iloilo, located in the center of the Philippine archipelago, with an initial frequency of two flights per week, and after the introduction of the route from Vienna, with an increase to four flights per week from the end of June.

According to information available in the Airfleets.net database, Scoot has 23 Airbus A320 family aircraft (A320 Neo, A320-200 and A321 Neo), 21 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (787-8 and 787-9) and 5 Embraer aircraft (E190 and E195). Flights from Vienna to Singapore are planned to be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 329 passengers, with the option of choosing two cabin classes. Flights from Singapore to Iloilo will be operated by Embraer E190-E2 aircraft with a capacity of 112 passengers.

Tickets can be purchased from January 16th of this year. What may attract passengers is the affordable price of the tickets. According to the carrier’s website, the price of a one-way economy class ticket from Vienna to Singapore with taxes included is around 220 euros and up, depending on the date of travel, while the price increases to around 470 euros and up, depending on the date, with the choice of ScootPlus cabin class, which offers passengers, among other things, more comfortable and spacious seats, the possibility of checked baggage weighing up to 30 kilograms, an included meal, priority check-in and boarding, and the like. A one-way ticket from Singapore to Iloilo City costs around 90 euros and up, depending on the date of travel.

Scoot is thus providing a wide range of passengers with access to new destinations. It provides passengers from the East with access to Vienna, which is centrally located in Europe, and through it to the rest of Europe, and passengers from Europe with access to the natural and cultural beauties of the Philippines, Singapore and, via Singapore, other destinations in Southeast Asia.

Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer, Leslie Thng, said on this occasion: “We remain committed to expanding our network and connecting passengers to new destinations around the world. As the only airline to offer direct flights between Singapore and Vienna, we are delighted to introduce this new service from June, just in time for the holidays, and with the launch of direct flights to Iloilo City, we also hope to inspire our customers to explore more cities in Southeast Asia and embark on new travel experiences.

To accommodate the new destinations and flights, Scoot will adjust its existing flight network and will discontinue operations to Berlin and Jinan, ending with the winter schedule this year.
