Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways Announce Codeshare Partnership for an Expanded Flight Network

Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways have officially announced the launch of a codeshare partnership that will provide passengers with greater flexibility in planning travel between Italy, Europe, and other international destinations. This agreement will enhance connectivity between the flight networks of both airlines, simplify the booking process, and increase flight availability.

The codeshare partnership will allow passengers to book flights on more than 100 codeshare routes operated by both airlines through a single sales channel, whether via the official websites of Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways or through authorized travel agencies. This means travelers will have access to a wider range of routes with a single ticket, eliminating the need for separate check-ins or multiple baggage handling procedures.

Additionally, the number of possible connections through major hub airports will increase, including Frankfurt and Munich, Lufthansa’s main hubs, as well as Rome and Milan, key centers for ITA Airways. The collaboration is expected to boost the number of direct and connecting flights from Italy to Central and Northern Europe, as well as to intercontinental destinations such as the United States, Canada, and Asia.

In addition to easier connections and a broader selection of destinations, passengers participating in both airlines’ loyalty programs will have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles. Lufthansa Miles & More members will be able to accumulate award miles, qualifying miles, and HON Circle miles on ITA Airways flights, while ITA Airways Volare members will enjoy similar benefits on Lufthansa Group flights.

Premium-class travelers and elite status loyalty program members will also gain access to additional perks, including airport lounge access, priority boarding, extra baggage allowances, and faster security clearance.

This partnership comes at a time when Lufthansa Group is striving to strengthen its presence in Italy, one of Europe’s most significant aviation markets. The German group has been steadily increasing its capacity to Italian airports over the years, and this agreement with ITA Airways further solidifies its position.

The codeshare partnership is expected to be officially implemented in the coming months, pending regulatory approvals, allowing passengers to experience the benefits of this new collaboration as early as this year.

Passengers can already check available routes and conditions on the official websites of Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways. Bookings are also available through authorized travel agencies and airline partners.

This agreement represents a major step in improving European air connectivity and opens new opportunities for travelers seeking greater flexibility and an enhanced travel experience.
