KM Malta Airlines starts operations

On 30 March 2024 Air Malta ceased to exist and was replaced by the new airline, the KM Malta Airlines.

KM Malta Airlines was granted Air Operator Certificate and Air Operator License by Maltese Civil Aviation Directorate in December 2023. Following the achievement of this important milestone, KM Malta Airlines launched its Summer 2024 Schedule and opened up for bookings on Monday 4 December 2023.

KM Malta Airlines marked the begining of their operations with an inaugural flight KM640 from Malta to Catania, departing from Malta International Airport at 06:00 local time on 31 March 2024.

The Summer 2024 schedule of KM Malta Airlines will operate from 31 March 2024 and will end on 26 October 2024. During this summer program the airline will operate an intense flying schedule serving 17 airports across 15 cities, operating a total of 8,546 flights and offering 1,430,000 seats. The airline will perform 284 weekly flights, reaching an average aircraft utilization of 12hrs 08 mins per unit day.

KM Malta Airlines will adopt a key European destination focus, linking Malta with the main capital cities in Western Europe and with the most significant European hubs, as well as connecting with partner airlines.

The airline signed codeshare agreements with Air France, KLM and Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss).

KM Malta Airlines operates a young single type aircraft fleet of 8 Airbus 320NEOs, in a two-class configuration with a flexible Business Class cabin, averaging a total of 168 seats with up to 36 Business Class seats.
