Joint flight activities of the Croatian and the US Armed Forces

According to the Croatian Ministry of Defense announcement, within the framework of the planned joint activities of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and the United States of America in the period from 9 to 20 September 2024, joint flying activities will be carried out in the area of ​​Istria County, that is, in the area of ​​Kvarner and the military training ground “Eugen Kvaternik “, Slunj.

Flight activities will be carried out daily, during the day and night until 23:00, excluding weekends.

Croatian Air Force Black Hawk UH-60M and Mi-171Sh helicopters will participate in the activities, which will be based in the “Croatian Defenders of Istria” barracks in Pula, i.e. at Pula Airport, US Army HH-60G Pawe Hawk helicopters from Aviano in Italy, and the USAF HC-130J Hercules aircraft from the New York National Guard, which will be based at the “Colonel Mirko Vukušić” barracks in Zemunik Donji.

Planned joint flight activities are carried out to exchange experience, practicing joint search and rescue procedures at sea, and increasing the readiness and ability of the Croatian Armed Forces, i.e. the Croatian Air Force, in the implementation of search and rescue tasks for military aircraft on land and water.

The Ministry of Defense hereby informs the citizens that noise is expected during these activities, which is common during helicopter and airplane flights, and we ask the citizens for their patience and understanding.
