Eurowings introduces “premium” Business Class seats

Eurowings, the budget airline of the Lufthansa Group, is introducing a new concept in passenger comfort for medium-haul routes—premium business seats that offer more space, privacy, and comfort. The new Premium BIZ seat, available on Airbus A320neo aircraft starting in 2025, is the first such concept on narrow-body aircraft in Germany and most of Europe. Passengers can try it as early as November on the Berlin-Dubai route.

Instead of the standard 3+3 economy seating configuration in two rows, Eurowings will install premium seats from Italian manufacturer Geven, arranged in a 2+2 layout across two rows. The seats feature adjustable headrests, ergonomic design, and soft cushioning, delivering a level of comfort previously unavailable on medium-haul flights. This innovation is particularly aimed at business travelers and tourists seeking extra comfort on longer flights.

“Our Premium BIZ seat brings an entirely new level of comfort to medium-haul travel. Greater privacy and an enhanced atmosphere make flying significantly more pleasant, setting new standards in our market segment,” emphasized Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings.

The new product will be available for booking as early as August via the airline’s official website as part of the expanded Eurowings BIZclass offering. Alongside the Premium BIZ seat (eight seats per aircraft), passengers will still have the choice of the classic BIZclass (with an empty middle seat and extra legroom) as well as SMART and BASIC economy fares.

This is just the beginning of a broader campaign to upgrade products and services, the German carrier highlighted. Eurowings plans further innovations to enhance the passenger experience on short and medium-haul routes—not just for business travelers but for all passengers. Additionally, testing on the Berlin-Dubai route will provide valuable insights for other airlines within the Lufthansa Group in planning future fleets.

The airline is already preparing for the largest fleet renewal in its history—starting in 2027, 40 brand-new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft will enter service, allowing Eurowings to further elevate its offerings and set new benchmarks in the world of low-cost aviation.
