In the last days of 2025, Embraer delivered the 50th E195-E2 aircraft to Canadian carrier Porter Airlines, marking a major milestone in one of the most dynamic fleet expansion programmes in North America. Since taking delivery of its first E2 jet in December 2022, Porter has embarked on an ambitious transformation of its network and business model, aiming to redefine the economy-class travel experience.
Porter currently holds firm orders for 75 E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for a further 25 units, potentially increasing the fleet to 100 aircraft of this type. The E195-E2 has been a key enabler of the airline’s rapid network growth across Canada and the United States, and now into the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America.
As part of its broader strategy, Porter has extended its signature “elevated economy” product into popular leisure markets. This season, the airline launched 13 new routes to five destinations – Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia in Costa Rica – from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Hamilton. The delivery of the 50th aircraft further strengthens Porter’s ability to add capacity and continue expanding its network.
Michael Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines, said that since the company’s founding in 2006, its focus has been on proving that economy flying can and should be enjoyable for every passenger. According to Deluce, the introduction of the E2 aircraft has allowed Porter to accelerate this vision and confirm its position as the fastest-growing airline in North America over the past three years. He also highlighted that Porter is the only airline in the region offering a no-middle-seat configuration on every flight.
From Embraer’s perspective, Porter represents a disruptive force in North American aviation. Nigel Patterson, Vice President Sales & Marketing and Head of Region North America at Embraer Commercial Aviation, noted that the delivery of the 50th aircraft underlines the E-Jets E2 family as an ideal platform for next-generation growth, combining operational efficiency, high passenger comfort, and strong environmental performance.
The E195-E2 is the largest and most technologically advanced member of the E-Jets E2 family. Compared with first-generation E-Jets, it delivers up to 29% lower fuel burn and offers a range of around 3,000 nautical miles, enabling nonstop services across North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Designed for high-frequency operations, the aircraft features fourth-generation fly-by-wire avionics, the quietest cabin in its class, onboard Wi-Fi, and seat power, all in a no-middle-seat layout.
Porter further enhances the aircraft’s capabilities with a leading in-flight product. Every passenger, regardless of fare type, benefits from complimentary service, including wine and beer served in glassware, premium snacks, and streaming-quality Wi-Fi.
The airline’s rapid fleet growth and network expansion underscore its evolution into a significant player in North American aviation. With a strong reputation for delivering a premium economy experience as standard, Porter continues to reshape how millions of passengers experience air travel.
