The Croatian Civil Aviation Agency will organize a series of workshops in June aimed at different segments of the aviation community, from general aviation and specialized flight operations to operators and remote pilots of unmanned aircraft. The focus of all announced activities is flight safety, exchange of practical experience, better operational preparation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
The first two workshops will be held on 13 and 14 June 2026 at Sinj Aerodrome. The program is focused on general aviation, with the first day dedicated to glider towing operations, while the second day will focus on parachuting operations. Through practical examples, discussions, exchange of experience and flight activities, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the specific features of these operations, their preparation, standardization of procedures and strengthening of safety culture.
The Croatian Civil Aviation Agency notes that the workshops are intended as a platform for open discussion and mutual learning, especially through practical experience. The aim is to further connect pilots, operators, instructors and general aviation enthusiasts, while encouraging the joint promotion of safer flying. Registration for the workshops in Sinj is mandatory via e-mail at natko.kulic@ccaa.hr, with the registration deadline set for 10 June 2026.
The third workshop will take place on 19 June 2026 at 10:00 at the headquarters of the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency, Buzinski Krči 5 in Zagreb, in the fourth-floor conference room. The workshop, titled “Operational Manual, the Next Generation”, is primarily intended for unmanned aircraft operators in the specific category, as well as those planning to become such operators.
The workshop follows the publication of new acceptable means of compliance and guidance material, AMC&GM, by EASA on 1 October 2025. These introduce an amended version of the SORA 2.5 methodology, used for identifying hazards and managing related risks in drone operations conducted in the specific category. The Croatian Civil Aviation Agency had already presented this methodology at a workshop held in December 2025, while the new workshop is intended to further assist operators in transitioning to approvals based on the SORA 2.5 methodology.
For this purpose, the Agency has prepared a template for the Operational Manual containing detailed guidance on acceptable means of compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements. In addition, given that the number of submitted reports remains low, the workshop will again address reporting and the application of the regulation to UAS operators, including an overview of misdemeanor provisions in cases of non-reporting.
According to the announced agenda, the workshop will begin with an introductory session, followed by a presentation of the new approach to the Operational Manual. The first block will be followed by a questions and answers session, a short break, and then a section dedicated to reporting, regulatory obligations and misdemeanor provisions. The final part of the workshop will again be reserved for participants’ questions. The workshop will be moderated by Damir Bezik.
