Air France introduces new cabin on Embraer 190

On September 17, Air France operated its first flight with an Embraer 190 equipped with a completely redesigned cabin. The inaugural service, flight AF1602 operated by its regional subsidiary HOP!, connected Paris-Charles de Gaulle with Hamburg, offering passengers a significantly enhanced level of comfort and new amenities.

The cabin features 110 seats in a 2-2 configuration. Each seat is leather-upholstered with ergonomic foam, an adjustable headrest, and optimized storage space. Passengers benefit from USB-A and USB-C ports, a device holder at eye level, and a dual cup holder. Starting in October, Business Class passengers will also enjoy an empty adjacent seat guaranteed for extra comfort and privacy, complemented by a movable curtain.

The cabin is styled in Air France’s signature colors—white with blue accents and red details—while the seats and interiors draw inspiration from modern French design and elegance. The new seats, produced in France in collaboration with Expliseat and designer Andrea Mocellin, are built from carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum, making them 30% lighter than the previous generation. This weight reduction lowers fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Passengers also have access to complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the flight, available via their Flying Blue account. This development is part of the airline’s broader strategy to introduce digital connectivity across its entire fleet, including regional aircraft.

By summer 2026, Air France plans to retrofit all of its Embraer 190s with the new cabin, further elevating the onboard product and standardizing the travel experience across its short- and medium-haul network.
