Aviation Capital Group orders 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

The aircraft leasing sector has received fresh confirmation of strong demand for next-generation single-aisle jets after Aviation Capital Group (ACG) placed an order for a total of 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal comprises 25 737-8s and 25 additional 737-10s, doubling ACG’s existing order book for the largest member of the MAX family.

With this transaction, ACG’s total Boeing 737 MAX backlog rises to 121 aircraft, including 50 firm orders for the 737-10. This makes ACG the world’s largest lessor customer for the 737-10, underlining market interest in the high-capacity variant designed for demanding short- and medium-haul routes.

ACG said the new order strengthens the strategic value of its fleet and represents a key pillar of its growth strategy. Deliveries are scheduled between 2026 and 2033, allowing the lessor to provide its global customer base with long-term access to modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The combination of the 737-8 and 737-10 is intended to offer airlines greater flexibility in capacity planning and network development.

At Boeing, the order is viewed as a strong vote of confidence in the 737 MAX programme, and particularly in the 737-10, with ACG’s first deliveries expected in the coming years. Boeing notes that leasing companies play a critical role in the expansion of the MAX fleet, having ordered nearly 1,300 aircraft to date—around one fifth of the total 737 MAX backlog.

Aviation Capital Group currently owns, manages or has commitments for approximately 470 aircraft, leased to around 90 airlines in roughly 50 countries. Founded in 1989, ACG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation and ranks among the world’s leading full-service aircraft leasing and asset management companies.
