[YOU ASKED] Why are four Thomas Cook Airbuses in Zagreb?

Four Airbus A321s of the bankrupt UK air carrier Thomas Cook Airlines (MT/TCX) are currently parked at Zagreb Airport. Thomas Cook Airlines announced bakrtuptcy at the end of September this year. Last few years, their planes were regularly serviced and checked at Croatia Airlines Technics Department in Zagreb. The maintenance work was also scheduled for this winter.

The current owner of these planes, the Irish leasing company Carlyle Aviation Partners, decided to go forward with the scheduled work, and therefore these four planes were transfered from Great Britain to Zagreb. They are now waiting for a new lessee here. In the meantime, these four planes have been reregistrated into Austrian aircraft register:

  • OE-IKM, ex G-TCDR, c/n 6615, built in 2015., this aicraft was leased to German subsidiary Condor (DE/CFG) – in the picture
