First flight from Marseille landed at Rijeka Airport on June 5th, at 20:10, with the flight number V72616. This represents a precedent for the entire Kvarner region, since it is the first time in the last 20 years that Rijeka had a regular connection with any French city.
Although a direct charter route between Paris and Rijeka was established last year, regular route represents a much greater potential since it operates regardless of the number of tickets sold, allowing each individual to fly at a low price to this beautiful, second-largest French city.
On this historic day, inauguration event was held at Rijeka Airport, with classical watersalute and ribbon cutting. Passengers were welcomed with homemade pastries and local folklore. The new Volotea route will fly once a week on Wednesdays, until October 2nd 2019. Flights will be operated by Boeing 717 aircraft, which can accommodate 125 passengers. Volotea is a Spanish low-cost airline that connects over 83 cities throughout Europe, with special emphasis on passenger quality and safety.
Focus of Volotea is at the destinations of the European side of the Mediterranean coast, as well as in Western and Southern Europe. In 2018, Volotea, with over 6.5 million passengers, had an increase of 36% comparing to the previous year. This makes it one of the fastest growing airline carriers in Europe.
