United Airlines Boeing 767-322 (ER) reg.N655UA  on a flight from Newark (EWR / KEWR) to Dubrovnik (DBV / LDDU), landed safely in Dubrovnik at 11:16 local time, with 192 passengers but remained grounded (AOG – Aircraft on ground) and the return flight to Newark was canceled.

For now, there is no official information about the reason for grounding, but unofficialy, the plane flew through extremely strong turbulence and lightning strike on its flight to Croatia. According to some information, the aircraft has been affected by Clear Air Turbulence (CAT), which can be very dangerous, leading to serious injuries to passengers and major damage to the aircraft structure.

After such situations, the aircraft is usually thoroughly inspected before being returned to service.

There was no need for emergency services of Dubrovnik Airport.

On Wednesday, a substitute aircraft will arrive to Dubrovnik to take passengers from Dubrovnik to Newark.
