A big thunderstorm hit Zagreb and its wider area on the night from Saturday (October 3rd) to Sunday (October 4th). The storm took its toll at Lučko Airfield. As AvioRadar finds out, 3 aircraft were damaged, two of which were turned upside down by a strong wind (Cessna 150 9A-DEY and Cessna 172 9A-DMJ), while another aircraft (Piper PA-18 Super Cub; 9A-DBS) was crashed during a partial hangar roof and door collapse on Aeroclub Zagreb hangar. The motor glider Scheibe SF.25B Falke registration number 9A-DGZ was aslo damaged in the same hangar due to the collapse of the roof panels. Additionally, 4 military Mi-171 helicopters are inoperative at the moment because of damaged rotor.
In addition to all of the above, the storm also damaged the gas station, while at the Delta Air hangar, the wind tore off the canvas and partially collapsed the load-bearing structure. Also, wind took off the roof from the Police hangar. During the night, firefighters also came out to the airport, pumping a large amount of rainwater from the airfield stand.
The police investigation, as well as the inspections of the insurance companies started early this morning and are still ongoing.
