Longest domestic flight in the world

Imagine spending almost 16 hours and traversing nearly 16,000 kilometers, flying almost half the world and landing in the same country from which you took off. You are probably wondering how is that possible, but by definition this almost 16,000 km flight is a domestic flight. It is an Air Tahiti Nui flight operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on March 15, the historic flight between Pape’ete, Tahiti and Paris, France.

TN64 normaly lands in Los Angeles on its way from Pape’ete to Paris, but because of the global pandemic of the COVID-19, the plane could not land in Los Angeles, so it flew directly to Paris.

This flight has set a record for the duration of, technically speaking a domestic flight, that will certainly not be easy to beat.
