Star Alliance has once again reaffirmed its position as the most influential global airline alliance, winning the title of World’s Leading Airline Alliance at the 2025 World Travel Awards. The accolade marks the alliance’s sixth consecutive victory, announced during the final gala ceremony held in Bahrain.
This year’s award serves as recognition of Star Alliance’s long-term efforts to enhance the passenger journey across all stages of travel, from booking to airport connections. Chief Executive Officer Theo Panagiotoulias noted that the honour primarily reflects the trust of passengers and the industry, thanking teams across all member airlines for their role in day-to-day operations. “This recognition belongs to the teams in all member airlines and at the alliance headquarters, who make it possible every day,” he said.
The alliance highlighted another achievement earlier this year: its lounge at Los Angeles International Airport was named North America’s Leading Airport Lounge for the sixth consecutive time, acknowledging consistent praise for its comfort and design.
The World Travel Awards, now in their 32nd year, are regarded as one of the most notable global recognitions in the travel sector. Winners are selected by votes from industry professionals and service users, and the awards span a wide range of categories across travel and hospitality. Graham E. Cooke, founder of the awards, congratulated Star Alliance on its latest win, emphasising that the results reflect how the alliance is perceived by travellers and experts.
In addition to the alliance-level award, several Star Alliance member airlines received individual honours. Among them were titles for leading airlines in Asia and Europe, underscoring the collective strength and broad influence of the alliance on the global market.
