Bulgaria and Romania, European Union member countries, will soon become part of the Schengen Area. Starting from March 31 2024, all border control will be cancelled in air and ship traffic. However, border controls will continue in road and railway traffic until further notice.
Irish low-cost air carrier Ryanair (FR/RYR) is currently the only air carrier that offers direct flights from Croatia to these two coutries. Three routes are offered from Zagreb to Sofia and from Zadar to Sofia and Bucharest. All three routes are offered with two flights per week, only in the summer timetable. Zagreb flights are offered from April to the end of October while Zadar flights are offered from June to the end of September.
