SAS will no longer cooperate with Croatia Airlines?

As previously noted, SAS is shifting its alliance from Star Alliance and its partnership with Lufthansa and associated airlines toward the Air France-KLM group. Consequently, SAS will also join SkyTeam.

For many years, SAS has maintained a strong partnership with Croatia Airlines, with SAS flight numbers appearing on numerous Croatia Airlines routes such as Zagreb to Sarajevo, Skopje, and Copenhagen. Conversely, Croatia Airlines flight numbers are also featured on SAS flights, including routes from Copenhagen to Stockholm, Oslo, and Bergen.

Recently, SAS announced the signing of a codeshare agreement with Air France and KLM. This agreement includes routes from Paris and Amsterdam to Zagreb. Upon checking the SAS website, we found that flights operated by Air France or KLM are now available. However, starting from September 1, 2024, Croatia Airlines flights will no longer be available through SAS.

As of August 31, 2024, the offerings still include Lufthansa and Croatia Airlines flights.

On September 1, 2024, flights offered by airlines from the Star Alliance association will no longer be available through SAS. Only flights operated by Air France and KLM will be offered.

Although Croatia Airlines cooperates with Air France and KLM, sharing codeshare routes from Zagreb to Paris and Amsterdam, there is a possibility that SAS may later renew its cooperation with Croatia Airlines. Interestingly, Croatia Airlines still sells tickets in combination with SAS for flights after September 1, 2024, on its website. This raises questions about potential changes in their partnership: Will Croatia Airlines terminate its cooperation with SAS and stop selling tickets for their flights? Will they seek another partner for flights to Scandinavia? These questions remain open for now, but we will continue to investigate.
