An online course titled “Part-NCO in practice: A VFR flight from preparation to landing” is now available to general aviation pilots, offering a knowledge refresher and practical guidance on applying Part-NCO requirements. Using examples from everyday VFR flying, the course covers the procedures and decisions involved from initial preparation through to the completion of a flight.
Topics include flight preparation, required documentation and equipment, weather information and NOTAMs, fuel planning, and mass and balance. The course also addresses passenger briefings, in-flight decision-making and post-flight responsibilities, bringing these subjects together within the context of a complete flight.
Rather than examining the regulation article by article, the course focuses on situations pilots may encounter in practice. Its aim is to demonstrate how regulatory requirements translate into flight preparation and operations, linking them to specific procedures and decisions.
Pilots are also invited to suggest topics for future courses. By providing feedback on the content and identifying the areas of general aviation that interest them most, they can help shape future training offerings.
