Lufthansa is once again marking Oktoberfest with special features on board its flights, while the 2026 edition will also bring completely new traditional Bavarian outfits for selected cabin crews. In addition to special flights from Munich, the Bavarian atmosphere will also be reflected in onboard menus and the offering at Lufthansa Lounges across Germany.
The new outfits for the so-called Trachtencrew were designed by Bavarian traditional clothing manufacturer Spieth & Wensky. For the first time, the design combines elements of Bavarian tradition with Lufthansa’s visual identity. The airline’s crane logo, for example, appears on the buttons of the women’s and men’s garments, while Lufthansa’s characteristic Wing Pattern has been incorporated into the design of the skirts and waistcoats.
Traditional outfits on Lufthansa flights during Oktoberfest are nothing new. The airline’s first such crew departed Munich for New York on September 1, 2006, meaning the concept celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
The new collection will make its debut on September 19, the opening day of this year’s Oktoberfest. Crews wearing the traditional outfits will operate from Munich to Bangalore on flight LH764 and to Beijing on flight LH722. One week later, on September 27, a traditionally dressed crew will also operate flight LH768 from Munich to Singapore.

However, Lufthansa’s Oktoberfest activities will not be limited to a handful of specially selected flights. Throughout September, the airline has also adapted its catering offer on selected intercontinental flights from Munich and Frankfurt. Passengers in all travel classes can expect a specially created menu inspired by Bavarian cuisine, including starters such as white sausage terrine and pretzel creations, main courses including Wiesn roast duck and fried chicken, as well as desserts such as apple strudel.
The adapted offering can already be noticed on regular Lufthansa flights. In Business Class on some aircraft, menus have already been presented in an Oktoberfest-inspired design, introducing the Bavarian theme even before the festival officially begins. On continental flights, a dedicated Oktoberfest menu in Business Class will officially be available from September 17 until October 6.
The themed offering will also extend to Lufthansa Lounges across Germany. Alongside Bavarian beers and traditional dishes, the lounges will feature Oktoberfest-inspired decorations, while the opening of the festival will be marked with the traditional phrase “O’zapft is”.
For this year’s Oktoberfest, Lufthansa has also prepared new versions of its popular Wiesn amenity kits. Until the end of September, passengers travelling in First, Business and Premium Economy Class on all long-haul flights departing Germany will receive hygiene and travel items in specially designed felt pouches inspired by Oktoberfest.
