Korean Air has finalized an order for a total of 103 Boeing aircraft, formally confirming the major procurement agreement announced by the South Korean carrier in August 2025.
The order includes 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 Freighters. The deal therefore covers the renewal and expansion of Korean Air’s narrowbody and widebody passenger fleets, as well as its cargo fleet.
Boeing and Korean Air initially announced the commitment for 103 aircraft in August last year, while the order had until now been listed in Boeing’s records under an unidentified customer. With the agreement now finalized, the final composition of the order has also been confirmed.
The largest part of the order consists of 50 737-10s, the largest variant of the 737 MAX family. In the widebody segment, Korean Air has ordered 20 777-9s and 25 787-10s, while the eight 777-8 Freighters represent an investment in the future renewal of the carrier’s cargo fleet.
The order was marked at an event in Seoul on September 16 attended by Korean Air Chairman and CEO Walter Cho, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope and CFM International President and CEO Gaël Méheust, together with senior government and financial representatives from the United States and the Republic of Korea.
Boeing also linked the announcement to trade relations between the United States and South Korea, stating that the agreement represents one of the tangible outcomes of bilateral trade negotiations.
The 103-aircraft order represents a major step in Korean Air’s long-term fleet renewal programme, taking place alongside the integration of Asiana Airlines. The combination of the 737-10, 787-10 and 777-9 will support the renewal of capacity across domestic, regional and long-haul services, while the 777-8 Freighter will introduce a new generation of aircraft into the airline’s cargo operation.
