JetBlue has unveiled BlueFirst, a new First Class product intended for domestic routes on which the airline does not currently offer its premium Mint experience. Bookings will open this fall, while the first aircraft featuring the new cabin is expected to enter service by the end of 2026.

BlueFirst will feature a traditional 2-2 seating configuration, offering up to seven inches, or nearly 18 centimetres, of additional legroom compared with JetBlue’s Main cabin seats. The seats will provide five inches, approximately 13 centimetres, of recline and feature specially developed T&N Flex foam from U.S. mattress manufacturer Tuft & Needle. According to the airline, the design should provide improved body support and more responsive pressure relief throughout the flight.

Each seat will be equipped with a 13.3-inch inflight entertainment screen featuring Bluetooth connectivity, USB-A and USB-C ports, and a standard 110-volt power outlet. Passengers will also continue to have access to complimentary high-speed Fly-Fi internet throughout their journey, including from boarding to arrival.

One of the main new features will be the ability to order food and beverages through the seatback screen. The Blueprint by JetBlue platform will also include a so-called Mixologist Mode, allowing passengers to create their own cocktail by selecting a spirit, mixer and flavouring. The order will then be sent directly to the cabin crew.

On flights covering 899 miles, or approximately 1,447 kilometres, or more, BlueFirst will offer meals under the FirstFare brand. They will be served in bento-inspired boxes containing an entrée, side dish and dessert. Announced options include sweet or savoury crepes and sesame noodles served with either beef or tofu.

The beverage selection will include wines chosen by New York-based Parcelle, coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and teas from Smith Teamaker. Drinks will be served in glassware supplied by Fable, accompanied by coasters designed for JetBlue by New York City illustrator Danielle Rose Fisher. On overnight flights, passengers will also receive a blanket and sleep kit.

“Domestic first class has become easy to predict. We think it’s time for a fresh take. Customers are increasingly looking for more premium experiences, and BlueFirst gives them an elevated experience that feels distinctly JetBlue,” said JetBlue Chief Executive Officer Joanna Geraghty.

Ground benefits will include priority check-in, Group 1 boarding, dedicated overhead bin space and access to expedited security lanes at more than 30 airports. BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares will include two complimentary checked bags, priority baggage delivery, and changes or cancellations without fees.

BlueFirst forms part of JetBlue’s JetForward strategy and will complement Mint, which will remain available on selected transcontinental and international routes. The new product will gradually be introduced in markets not served by Mint, allowing JetBlue to extend its premium offering to shorter domestic flights.

JetBlue will announce the initial BlueFirst routes and the exact date on which bookings will open later this year.
