Members of the 855th Firefighting Squadron of the Croatian Air Force were visited on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at the “Colonel Mirko Vukušić” barracks in Zemunik Donji by delegations of firefighters from Croatia, Slovakia and Hungary, including representatives of firefighting units from the MOL Group. The visit was organized at the request of the Croatian Firefighting Association as part of international cooperation in the field of firefighting and fire protection.
The visit took place within the framework of a professional conference currently being held in Solin, to exchange experiences and gain insight into the organization and operational capabilities of the Croatian Air Force’s aerial firefighting forces. Members of the 855th Firefighting Squadron, operating as part of the 93rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force, presented the guests with the squadron’s mode of operation as well as the technical and operational characteristics of the Canadair CL-415 and Air Tractor AT-802 firefighting aircraft.
Special emphasis was placed on experience gained during the suppression of large and demanding wildfires, as well as on cooperation between aerial and ground forces in complex firefighting operations. Firefighters from Slovakia and Hungary had the opportunity to become directly acquainted with the Croatian model of aerial firefighting, which for years has been regarded as one of the most experienced and effective in the region.
At the conclusion of the visit, the guests thanked the members of the 855th Firefighting Squadron for the comprehensive presentation and open exchange of knowledge, highlighting the importance of such meetings for strengthening international cooperation and joint preparedness in responding to increasingly frequent and challenging wildfires.
