“India” returns to Croatia Airlines’ fleet

After Croatia Airlines’ Airbus A319, registration number 9A-CTI, left the fleet in November 2023, “India” is returning to the national airline, but this time in the “form” of the Airbus A220-300.

At Croatia Airlines, there is a practice of internally naming aircraft according to the last letter of the registration, read in the phonetic alphabet. Given that the new, second Airbus A220-300 will bear registration 9A-CAI, “India” is returning to the fleet after a little more than a year.

The new Airbus A220-300 should arrive in Zagreb by the end of the year and will bear the name Split. This will be the second aircraft bearing the name of the city of Split in the fleet, given that Airbus A320 reg. 9A-CTK also bears the same name.

When asked about the date of entry into traffic, as well as the lines on which the aircraft is scheduled to operate, Croatia Airlines replied to AvioRadar: “Due to the complexity of the process of delivery and takeover of new aircraft, the exact date of inclusion in the fleet, as well as the routes which it will be operated on, is currently unknown. The company will inform the public about it as soon as the said details are defined.”
