FLYONE Armenia has finalised an order for two Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking the Armenian carrier’s first direct order for new aircraft from the European manufacturer. The agreement was previously announced in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding during French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit to Yerevan on 5 May this year.
The two new A321neo aircraft will be powered by CFM International LEAP engines, while the cabin will be configured with 239 seats in a single-class economy layout. The aircraft are expected to play an important role in the further expansion of FLYONE Armenia’s network and the modernisation of its fleet.
The carrier was established in 2021 and currently operates a fleet of 11 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. The A321neo order represents a continuation of the airline’s strategy of relying on a common aircraft family, allowing for greater operational and technical fleet standardisation while simultaneously increasing capacity on its busiest routes.
“Our first direct order with Airbus marks an important and symbolic milestone in FLYONE Armenia’s development. Having two new A321neo aircraft built by Airbus specifically for our airline reflects our continued commitment to fleet modernisation and long-term growth. We are confident that this investment will support not only FLYONE Armenia’s further development, but also the continued growth of Armenia’s civil aviation sector and its international cooperation,” said Aram Khachatryan, CEO of FLYONE Armenia.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President Sales for the Commercial Aircraft business, said that FLYONE Armenia’s first direct order confirms the carrier’s plans for further fleet and network expansion.
The A321neo is the largest member of the Airbus A320neo Family and offers greater passenger capacity and range compared with the smaller members of the family. Airbus states that A320neo Family aircraft provide at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft.
The A320 Family has so far secured more than 20,000 orders, making it the world’s most popular family of single-aisle passenger aircraft.
