The Dubai-based carrier flydubai has announced a major upgrade to its Economy Class offering. Starting in November, all passengers who purchase an Economy Class ticket will enjoy complimentary meals and in-flight entertainment (IFE), a move the airline says will enhance service standards and deliver greater value for money.
This development marks a new phase in flydubai’s strategy, as the airline continues to focus on improving the customer journey and modernizing its onboard product. “Redefining the Economy Class experience across all our flights is an important step in our business model. We continue to invest in services and products that add value for passengers and make travel simpler and more enjoyable,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai.
Passengers will be able to enjoy an all-new in-flight entertainment system featuring touch-screen displays with more than a thousand movies, TV series, and music albums, including titles from major studios such as HBO Max, BBC Kids, and Cartoon Network. The system will also offer interactive games, e-magazines, podcasts, and destination guides.
The meal and beverage offering has also been expanded, with carefully curated menus featuring meals, light snacks, and drinks inspired by flydubai’s global network. Menus will vary depending on flight duration and region, with a particular emphasis on authentic flavors from the Middle East, Europe, India, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Operating flights to more than 135 destinations, flydubai continues to grow and modernize its fleet. By the end of this year, the airline will operate 98 aircraft, all of which are from the Boeing 737 family. In parallel with new aircraft deliveries, a fleet modernization program is underway, introducing lie-flat seats in Business Class and new Economy Class seats to ensure a consistent level of comfort across the entire fleet.
Looking further ahead, flydubai is preparing to enter a new chapter: from 2027, the airline will begin taking delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, enabling the launch of new long-haul routes and further elevating its service standards.
According to Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer, the inclusion of meals and IFE in every ticket price “comes at the right time as flydubai prepares for continued network expansion and passenger growth.” The new model, he added, “ensures greater value for passengers while maintaining competitive fares.”
